Fly High Lexington Launches Lexington Style Barbecue Fly-In With Backcountry Barbecue Lexington, NC (November 28, 2011) – Fly High Lexington, a full service FBO at the Davidson County Airport in Lexington, NC has partnered with Backcountry Barbecue to host a series of Fly In Events featuring the city’s famous Lexington Style Barbecue. “Fly High Lexington continues to offer new and unique events for its customers” says, Karel Van Der Linden, Owner and Director of Fly High Lexington. The “When Pigs Fly – Fly In” will take place every Saturday beginning December 10, 2011 from 11am to 2pm. Backcountry Barbecue is known for its 20 oz. sirloin steak and “Q” sandwiches serving pit cooked, pork barbecue sliced and chopped. “My favorite meal is actually the 20 oz. sirloin but the “Qs” and hush puppies are also fantastic” Van Der Linden said. The Lexington style of barbecue (occasionally referred to as Piedmont style) uses a vinegar-based “red” sauce that is seasoned with ketchup, vinegar, and pepper, along with other spices that vary from recipe to recipe. It is most common in the Piedmont (central) and western areas of the state. This style uses only the pork shoulder section of the pig. For visitors who want to extend their barbecue experience try the Lexington Barbecue Legends Tour featuring 8 Lexington restaurants, overnight accommodations and a rental car. Dear Karel, Please pass along our thanks to the airplane owners who joined us last week for Big Toy Day 2011! More than 1,500 children and their families came out to the Davidson County Airport to spend the day with us and enjoy all of the wonderful attractions that you and your tenants helped provide for them. Please take great pride in knowing that by donating your time and resources so generously, you helped raise nearly $6,000 for Communities In Schools of Lexington/Davidson County. As an affiliate of the nation’s most effective dropout prevention organization, CIS will use this money to sustain mentor programs in 24 schools in Lexington and Davidson County. Because of these programs, over 300 local students now know what it means to have a oneon-one relationship with a caring, supportive adult. The funds raised at Big Toy Day will also be used to support an additional 11,000 students throughout the 2011-2012 school year with school supplies, clothes, eyeglasses, hearing aids and anything else they might need to be successful in school and in life. Once again, we thank all Davidson County Airport tenants for sharing their “big toys” with the community and we hope that each of you will consider joining us again next year. Please call (336) 242-1520 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about Communities In Schools or any of its programs. Sincerely, Ryan Jones Community Resource Coordinator
