De-annexation of the Davidson County Executive Airport and New Property Tax Rate:
As of July 1, 2022, the Davidson County Executive Airport has been removed from the corporate limits of Lexington. Previously, any company housing a vehicle at the airport paid taxes for both Lexington and Davidson County.
North Carolina Senator Steve Jarvis, who introduced the bill, said this reduction in taxes by de-annexation from Lexington would help recruit more companies to house their corporate jets at the airport. He also stated the bill has the support of the Davidson County Executive Airport Authority.
This means the new property tax rate is now 0.64% instead of the previous 1.19%.
Now might be an ideal time to take advantage of this opportunity, given President Trump’s “Made in America” initiative and the potential for tariffs.
