Why Choose KEXX?
An NC Airport Offering Convenient Access to the Davidson County Region
KEXX has been situated alongside Interstate 85 since its infancy in the late 1950s. The airport’s most significant contributions to Davidson County as a whole come from a combination of private sight-seeing trips or plane-spotting excursions, and from the import of traveling businessmen who use our tarmac as a parking lot to scout out opportunity in our increasingly popular region.
Size and Growth
The 5,004-foot runway at our Davidson County, NC Airport was last paved in 1999 with the expectation that it would last approximately 15 years. After regular rehabilitation and patching projects provided by the state, the runway is in year 18 and a facelift (along with increased weight and traffic capacities) are in the not-too-distant future. As a general rule, the airport’s runway is already able to comfortably intake dual-wheel planes up to 60,000 pounds, which generally means planes with smaller engines, smaller passenger totals and smaller fuel capacities.
With regional airports available across the Piedmont, Triad, Greensboro areas, our Davidson County airport is working hard to attract new aircraft and long-term hangar rectors. Our continued effort will be essential as the business park that is being developed less than four miles from our location begins to attract more suitors and business jets eye the most efficient way to get to and from the park in a day.
