Save the date for second run of Big Toy Day
The second-annual Big Toy Day presented by Communities In Schools of Lexington/Davidson
County will take place on Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Davidson County Airport. The price of
admission will remain the same: Free for children ages 10 and under and $5 for all others.
Big Toy Day is a unique and affordable opportunity for Triad families to enjoy food, fun and
fellowship while getting a new perspective on a variety of specialty vehicles and large equipment.
Last year 1,500 visitors came out to explore more than 40 “big toys,” including planes, tractors, fire
trucks, race cars and boats.
Available for purchase will be refreshments such as hot dogs, popcorn and drinks. New this year,
Communities In Schools will be giving away two brand-new bicycles to one girl and one boy. Raffle
tickets can be purchased for $1 each.
As Communities In Schools’ second-largest fundraising event of the year, proceeds from Big Toy
Day help offset the cost of providing much-needed support to the students of our community. In
addition to providing mentors to more than 360 students in Lexington and Davidson County, CIS
serves over 11,000 students by providing them with basic necessities such as school, hygiene and
medical supplies, and connecting them to community resources.
Those interested in displaying a “big toy” on Aug. 27 should contact the Communities In Schools
office directly. Sponsorships for Big Toy Day 2011 are also available.
