Dear Karel,
Please pass along our thanks to the airplane owners who joined us last week for Big Toy Day 2011! More than 1,500 children and their families came out to the Davidson County Executive Airport to spend the day with us and enjoy all of the wonderful attractions that you and your tenants helped provide for them.
Please take great pride in knowing that by donating your time and resources so generously, you helped raise nearly $6,000 for Communities In Schools of Lexington/Davidson County.
As an affiliate of the nation’s most effective dropout prevention organization, CIS will use this money to sustain mentor programs in 24 schools in Lexington and Davidson County. Because of these programs, over 300 local students now know what it means to have a oneon-one relationship with a caring, supportive adult.
The funds raised at Big Toy Day will also be used to support an additional 11,000 students throughout the 2011-2012 school year with school supplies, clothes, eyeglasses, hearing aids and anything else they might need to be successful in school and in life.
Once again, we thank all Davidson County Executive Airport tenants for sharing their “big toys” with the community and we hope that each of you will consider joining us again next year. Please call (336) 242-1520 or email ciscrc@triad.rr.com for more information about Communities In Schools or any of its programs.
Sincerely,
Ryan Jones
Community Resource Coordinator
