This is a major step forward in enhancing the safety of the airplanes, pilots and passengers the airport serves.
The awarding of the Phase 1 funds for the wildlife fence will improve the airport’s safety and position as it continues to grow, especially with the activation of the new MALSR. The airport is fully-fenced, however the existing fence has been found to no longer meet FAA standards for wildlife safety, and therefore it is a vital point of improvement. Â The new fence will be higher and will include a wildlife skirt buried underground.
